Like last week in Marseille, Sergiy played a great competitive match against French Open champion and world no.4 Stan Wawrinka.
Unfortunately, he again fell short against the Swiss as he lost their first round encounter at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 7-5, 3-6, 5-7 after two hours of play.
Stako won four straight games to fight back from 3-5 and take the first set. Wawrinka then rallied back from 1-3 down in the second set to level the match. The Swiss made a crucial break in the 11th game of the decisive third set and served it out to advance into the ATP 500 event last 16.

Sergiy wasted two match points before being knocked out 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (8) by world no.4 Stan Wawrinka in the second round of the Open 13 Provence on Wednesday. Last year, the Ukrainian beat Wawrinka in the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 event, but this time, the top-seeded Swiss fought back from the brink to seal the win in one hour and 57 minutes.
Both players broke twice during their third career encounter (H2H 1-2). Stako won 81% of points on his first serve, to his rival's 75%.

Sergiy recorded a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (5) win over world no.25 Feliciano Lopez to reach the second round at the Open 13 Provence on Tuesday. The Kiev native broke three times from six opportunities and saved four of eight break points he faced during the one hour, 54-minute clash, levelling the H2H record with the Spaniard to 2-2.
