After the players had split the first two sets, the American prevailed in the third and fourth set tie-breakers to advance.

Sergiy began his French Open campaign with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 win over world no.93 Ricardas Berankis on Monday at Roland Garros.
The 29-year-old Kiev native hit 26 winners and broke his rival six times from 10 opportunities, having suffered a break once during the first round encounter.

Roland Garros draw for the men’s singles has been made on Friday. Sergiy will take on world no.92 Ricardas Berankis (H2H 0-1) in the opening round of the second Grand Slam of the season, taking place in Paris from May 24 to June 7.
Possible second round opponent for the 29-year-old Ukrainian is no.26 seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain.
Stako's best result in previous six appearances was reaching the third round in 2011. Last year the Kiev native lost to Denis Istomin in R1 3-6, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6.
Sergiy was stopped in the first round of the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur event by his compatriot Alexandr Dolgopolov on Tuesday. Dolgopolov came back from a set down to beat Stako 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in one hour and 36 minutes.
The two Kiev natives traded first two sets with one break each. Three years younger Dolgopolov broke twice in the deciding third set to progress into the ATP World Tour 250 tournament last 16.

The players traded breaks once in the opening set, the Frenchman prevailed in a tie-breaker to move ahead.
Stako could not regroup after falling behind. He was broken three more times and Eysseric progressed into the quarter-finals after one hour and 31 minutes of play.
The Kiev native had only 9% realization of break point opportunities (1/11) and he won 34% of points on his second serve.

Sergiy made a strong start to his BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux 2015 campaign on Tuesday, dismissing world no.129 Albert Montanes 6-1, 6-2 in 59 minutes. The top seed won 72 per cent of his first-serve points and broke twice in each set to claim victory. Stats: aces (6-0), double faults (0-5), total points won (30-20).
Sergiy goes on to face Jonathan Eysseric of France for a place in the Challenger event last 8.
The Kiev native paired with Lucas Pouille to beat French duo of Adrien Puget and Laurent Rochette 6-4, 6-4 on Monday. They will take on no.3 seeds Johan Brunstrom (SWE) and Jonathan Erlich (ISR) in doubles quarter-final action.
