Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky has a reputation for being one of the most outspoken players on the ATP Tour, a firebrand leading the push for greater prize money at the grand slams and speaking up for the rights of the lower-ranked players. But behind the scenes, Stakhovsky is also fighting another fight and has set up a charity fund called Ace the Cancer, giving $5 to the National Institute of Cancer in Ukraine for every ace he hits throughout the year. Stakhovsky was kind enough to tell The Tennis Space why it matters so much.

Stako and doubles partner Mikhail Youzhny fought hard but were edged in the third-set tie-break by Daniele Bracciali and Lukas Dlouhy, eventually losing 7-6(3) 1-6 7-6(4) at Melbourne Park on Sunday. The third-round encounter lasted two hours and 20 minutes.
The Italian/Czech pair won eight fewer points than Stakhovsky and Youzhny but went on to advance to the quarterfinals.

Sergiy and MIkhail Youzhny are through to the third round of the Australian Open Friday after beating Australians John Peers and John-Patrick Smith 6-3 6-3 in 56 minutes.
The Ukrainian-Russian duo converted three of their six break point chances and saved the only break point they faced in the match.
Sergiy's reaction on FB:
"We had a great win today next round on Sunday!"
For a place in the quarterfinals, they face Lukas Dlouhy and Daniele Bracciali.
Sergiy has been knocked out of the Australian Open after losing to Ricardas Berankis 6-2 7-6(4) 7-5 in the first round. The match lasted two hours and 8 minutes.

Stako teams up with Russia's Mikhail Youzhny to play doubles. In the first round, the Ukrainian-Russian duo faces Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana of Thailand.
Sergiy is playing his 7th Australian Open and his best result was reaching the third round in 2011 (lost to Robredo). Last year he lost to Kevin Anderson in the second round.

Marin Cilic reached the Aircel Chennai Open semifinals on Thursday as he upset Sergiy 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 n one hour and 47 minutes. Stako converted one of his three break point chances, while the Croat broke his serve three times in the match. The two were meeting for the third time - Cilic leads the series 3-0.
Stako is still alive in doubles. Together with Somdev Devvarman, he is through to the quarterfinals after beating Robin Haase and Igor Sijsling 7-5, 6-3. They next play Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana for a place in the semifinals.
Sergiy made a winning start at the Aircel Chennai Open on Tuesday, defeating qualifier Ruben Bemelmans of Belgium 7-6(7), 7-6(5) in one hour and 55 minutes.
Stako won 77 per cent of his first serve points and hit 10 aces to advance to the second round.
He next meets No. 3 seed Marin Cilic, who received a bye in the first round. The two have played three times before and Cilic won on all occasions.
