Munich: Stako Beaten In 2nd Round

Sergiy lost his second-round match at the BMW Open to Italy’s Potito Starace. The match ended with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday and lasted one hour and 13 minutes.

Sergiy fell down a break at 3-3 in the first set and the Italian took it 6-4. In the second set, Stako lost serve at 1-1 and at 4-2 down and couldn’t break back as Starace served incredibly well, having a winning percentage of 75 per cent on first serves and 86 per cent on second.

Munich: Sergiy Gets Win On Clay

Stako has defeated Denis Istomin to make it through to the second round of the BMW Open in Munich, Germany. The 25-year-old from Kiev was 5-1 up in the opening set when Istomin was forced to retire. He next faces either Jan Hajek or Potito Starace.

The BMW Open is a clay court 250 ATP World Tour event staged in Munich’sIphiton Tennis Club.

Monte-Carlo: Gil Beats Stako

Sergiy was beaten 6-1, 6-3 by Portugal’s Frederico Gil in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Monday. The match lasted 68 minutes.

Match Facts
--- Sergiy won 39 points for the match, his opponent 60
--- Gil broke serve five times from ten opportunities, Stako once from four opportunities

With this loss, Stako fell to 10-8 on the season.

Sergiy is also playing doubles with Mikhail Youzhny. In the first round, they beat Couillard and Lisnard 7-6(1), 6-4. They next face third seeds Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner.
