On Sunday evening in Miami Sergiy was knocked out of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 by 6th seed American Andy Roddick 6-2, 6-1 in the third round. Roddick played flawlessly and closed out the match in 55 minutes. “I felt good. It's rare that you kind of walk off thinking everything kind of went the way that you wanted it to," Roddick said after the match. "There's definitely that feeling when you play a whole lot of matches in a row where a lot of it your kind of muscle memory takes over a little bit." Sergiy’s serve failed and, as a result, his game fell apart. This was the first head-to-head encounter between the players.

Making his second main draw appearance at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Miami, Sergiy advanced to the second round following a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 win over Jan Hajek of Czech Republic. The match lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes. This was the first meeting between the players. With the victory, Stako has already improved on his first round exit performance from last year's Sony Ericsson Open.
Sergiy will next face 32nd seed Frenchman Julien Benneteau, with the winner likely to play 6th seed American Andy Roddick.
Sergiy is out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Stako lost today 6-3, 3-6, 5-7 in one hour and 54 minutes to 18-th seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the second round after a very close match. Going over the match statistics, which are remarkably even (the total number of points was tied!), it is clear that Robredo did better at winning key points – he captured four break points out of eight, Sergiy converted just three out of the 13 which came his way.
It was the first match between the two players.
Sergiy’s next tournament will be the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami which starts on March 23rd.

World No. 70 Stako, who had made only one Indian Wells appearance before, posted a comfortable win today in his first-round match as he defeated American left-hander Wayne Odesnik 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 3 minutes. This was the first matchup between the players.
Sergiy will next face 18th-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo and will do his best to make amends for his second round exit at the same event last year.
ATP Indian Wells is the first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the year with the prize money of $4.5 million.
