Sapronov Tennis Interview

Stako was recently interviewed by the Sapronov Tennis, the biggest tennis news website in Ukraine. The following is an extract entitled “What went wrong for Sergiy in Australia?”
Sapronov Tennis: Tell us about your feelings after the Australian Open this year; the draw wasn’t kind to you and it seems that things always go wrong for you in Melbourne. Sergiy Stakhovsky: I have unstated feelings, because something always stops me from playing well there. Even in my junior years, I never played well in Australia. Yes, it’s true that the draw was bad, but Tsonga wasn’t the worst opponent - my game left a lot to be desired. Sergiy was ousted at the Australian Open 2010 today by World No. 10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after a straight-sets first-round match in one hour and 52 minutes. Stako started strongly breaking his opponent’s serve in the opening game but could not hold on to the break as the Frenchman broke back immediately. From that moment, World No. 10 turned the match around by playing more aggressively from the baseline. He broke Sergiy’s serve twice, in the fifth and...
